FORTUNE 500 COMPANY WANTS TO SETUP GCC

In this case the business case for India was already approved by the Board. The organization wanted to do a location study and subsequently set up the GCC.

They already had a business unit in India (based out of Mumbai) and were now setting up a GCC. So, the natural starting point was Mumbai. However, a location study revealed Pune as the ideal location considering a variety of parameters from talent availability to proximity to the pre-existing entity. This was 2005 — hence factors were contextual to that time frame.

Subsequently the GCC was set up in Pune and evolved into one of the most mature GCCs in the country.

NBFC WANTS TO EVALUATE GCC AS AN OPTION

The organization had been used to working with India through large third party services organizations. They wanted to assess the potential of setting up their own GCC.

Assessment was done of the potential; and then consulting was provided on the steps required to set up the GCC and ensure it is successful.

The GCC was subsequently setup.

A US ORGANIZATION NEEDS A GLOBAL OPERATING MODEL

This was a GCC that had been running successfully in India for over a decade. They wanted to expand globally. Hence the need for a global operating model.

A study was done covering various aspects including the objectives of the GCC, the maturity level of the current GCC in India, and the drivers for the global model – leveraging time zones, leveraging various languages, leveraging talent, concentration risk, proximity to customer, et al.

A model was rolled out including the broad organization structure – a hub-and-spoke model, in this case. The expansion has started with two new locations — one in India and another one outside.

INITIAL TEAM SETUP FOR LARGE MIDDLE EAST ORGANIZATION

This organization had the GCC legal entity setup done and needed the initial team to start the operations and gradually hire their own team to get into steady state.

A study was done to understand the requirement and an appropriately experienced team was shared on contract basis for an initial period of one to two year(s). This team was additionally tasked to hire the full time team within the first year, handover for smooth transitioning, and step away.

FORTUNE 500 COMPANY’S GCC IN INDIA WANTS TO MATURE FURTHER

This organization has the GCC operational for a few years. They now want to move up the maturity curve, create a strategy, chalk out a roadmap, develop the leadership team, and be prepared for the change management.

A study was done to understand the As-Is state and identify a To-Be state. Then a strategy was developed along with the roadmap for a 3-year period. Based on this, the people and leadership development plans were developed, risks identified, change requirements listed and change management plan was drawn.
